InterGlobal began in 1998 as a joint venture between two insurance providers: InterGroup and the Mike Henry Group. Inter Group was formed in 1992 and is a UK-based insurance solutions company, which has been owned by The Churchill Group (then a Credit Suisse Company) and then by the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. The Mike Henry Group was formed in 1981. This New Zealand based group is one of the largest travel insurance product and service providers in Australasia and has established business interests in the UK, Australia, the Far East, South East Asia and Canada. Prior to the RBS takeover of InterGroup in 2003, InterGlobal (UK) merged with Global HealthCare Limited to create a single worldwide brand.
